If you’re considering solar and use Taylor electric, do not do it.
2 years ago I started looking into solar and looked into Taylor Electric reimbursement for extra generated power and it was dollar for dollar. I made the decision to get solar because it was worth it at the time. Starting 9/1/2024 Taylor Electric has changed their reimbursement to only 17% of the value you pay per KW. That’s 82.8% less than what they used to provide. I feel sorry for everyone that invested into solar as a Taylor Electric customer. At this rate solar is not worth it. You’ll end up with roughly $20 of savings per month and if you didn’t pay cash for your panels you’ll end up paying more than you were just using the power grid.
For exact cost, we pay 14.6 cents per kW Taylor electric pays 2.5 cents per kW. I look forward to seeing what the cooperative dividend will be this year.

Never wanted to live where i was forced to have them, but here we are. NEVER in my life have i had to worry about my electricity going out EVERYTIME the wind blows or there is rain or a storm. Why, especially for how much yall charge. No other company i have had did this happen so damn often. Get it together. The ONLY saving grace is they are generally pretty quick to put it back on, but it's probably because they have so much damn practice.

For a electric company you won’t have any electricity I have elderly people living with me that have to have oxygen, but they don’t seem to care about that part every time the wind blows or a thunderstorm comes through you’ll be without electricity you would think as much as we pay for electricity they could update their system so that way it didn’t go out all the time but no

It is Texas law that you call 811 before you dig. I have contacted 811 four times and Taylor Electric refuses to mark for lines on my property so I can begin to dig. If I am forced to do something because of a law then the service rendered must also be law. I've talked to numerous contractors that say they have never heard of a utility company not coming to mark lines when asked. If you are thinking of joining Taylor Co-Op; I advised you to rethink your decision. I only went with Taylor Co-Op due to the fact I was told they were the only ones who service my area. If you plan on adding renewable energy such as solar or wind, keep in mind that you will be locked in for another 2 years and if you want to switch you will need to pay $6000.00. If you do not have solar and want to switch off of Taylor to a more customer/member friendly provider you will also need to pay Taylor $525 and wait 10-12 months before another utility company can make it out to you. I have nothing bad to say about the employees I understand they are just doing what they are told and the b.s. just rolls from the top down.

With the prices Taylor charges for service customers should have better reliability. Power has been out every time there's been any kind of storm over the past 9 months. While I appreciate the linemen doing their jobs, there simply has to be a better way of maintaining their service. If you look up Taylor Electric you'll see their profit margin is in the top 25 percentile for the entire US

Absolutely the worst provider I have ever had. They have no compassion, do not genuinely care about you the consumer. Angel likes to snicker and finds enjoyment from others woes. Deniese is washed up and has been there for decades at this point, and does not care how you feel. This company needs a complete and new turnover with training in customer service. Horrible to have to deal with, a bird could flutter gas next to a line and you are without power for hours. The only reason for a single star is their linemen are great.

Possibly pending change: I live in their territory, I've called SEVERAL times interested in the internet and been told I have to be an existing customer for electric. I've tried to do that and every time I do I get the run around. It shouldn't be this hard to get services when the company ran fiber across my property. I have called several times hoping to see if we can change over and see if maybe it's possible I'm just getting the wrong customer service representative and they're usually all JUST as rude as the last one. Judging by the other reviews I'm not the only person who has had this problem. I'm not sure how a literal company does not want customers and refuses to give people an opportunity to become one.

Horrible internet connectivity, with connection problems almost on the daily. And a $6 service fee to pay your bill on their website? Ridiculous! I’ll resort to old fashioned check writing and snail mail.
